Local theater troupe The Seasoned Performers, a senior adult theater company, will offer Conversations from To Kill a Mockingbird, dramatic readings from the book performed by senior adults who will acquaint audiences with characters and themes.

The owner of the Sears department stores funded the Rosenwald Schools for the education of rural African-American children living in the South. Historian and preservationist Dorothy Walker will discuss the history of these schools and today's efforts to save the few surviving buildings.

Brewer, Cumberland School of Law Distinguished Professor of Law and Governor Emeritus will lead a discussion of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. This film stars Jean Harlow (wearing a red wig) as a young woman who seduces her boss (played by Chester Morris) and convinces him to divorce his wife. She soon tires of him, and embarks on an affair with a wealthy businessman. Accused of murder, she escapes prosecution and flees to France where she embarks on another affair, with a chauffeur (played by Charles Boyer in one of his earliest Hollywood roles).
