This exhibition features hundreds of snapshot photographs selected from local family albums and the library’s archival collections. Made by residents of Birmingham when the portable camera was a new and exciting way to record family, these snapshots illustrate the common interests and common bonds of people preserving their own history through pictures.

Local theater troupe The Seasoned Performers, a senior adult theater company, will offer Conversations from To Kill a Mockingbird, dramatic readings from the book performed by senior adults who will acquaint audiences with characters and themes.

Join us for the last in a series of 3 movies produced before a code of conduct was instituted, known as pre-code films. Baby Face, produced in 1933, stars Barbara Stanwyck as Lily, who escapes to New York from an Erie, Pa. speakeasy where her father has rented her out to the customers.

Rosenwald Schools: A Benchmark in the History of Black Education. The owner of the Sears department stores funded the Rosenwald Schools for the education of rural African-American children living in the South.
