When did you first read To Kill a Mockingbird?

I first read To Kill a Mockingbird between my 8th and 9th grade years of school. Most of my friends had read it during 8th grade and complained the whole time. I actually enjoyed it. Last year I listened to it on audio book and found myself driving around in my car just so I could listen to it more. I think it is more appreciated when you choose to read it as an adult, after you have seen how unfair the world can be.

I first read it about 8th

I first read it about 8th grade and then read it again in my early twenties.  I am now 51 and have read it about once a year for the last 30 years.  I always find something new to think aobut when I read it, relating to situations I am seeing at the time.  It is a great book to help keep a person grounded and constantly reviewing their own ideas about prejudice.

I had never read

I had never read 'MockingBird,' and decided it was high time. At first, I had a little trouble staying with it, but then really got hooked. Enjoyed it very much, and keep thinking about different aspects of it - keeps me thinking.................now I want to see the movie!

9th grade

When I first read this book as a 9th grader, I just didn't get it. I was not a reader then, but I know for a fact, I did not enjoy it as much as I have as an adult. This is a wonderful book and I'm thankful the county chose it to read.
