Latest News. Things are booming between the communities of Birmingham and Rosh Ha’ayin: the school year is winding down but the EPal program is going full bloom. The children have learned about each other’s home town and country, and learned that they have many things in common. Each student has his/her own pal and they are communicating and exchanging photographs. 12 students from the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School traveled to Israel during spring break. While there they spent a day in RH and met their EPals in person.
Four Birmingham teachers will be leaving for Israel and RH at the end of May. They will be joined by four teachers from New Orleans. The 8 teachers will join several teachers from RH to tour the country, including visiting several schools and classrooms in Israel. Most importantly, they will create a curriculum and a teaching guide on the subject of “Diversity” to be used in Birmingham and RH middle schools.
Three teen-age students from RH will visit Birmingham and the Jewish community this summer as they travel to Houston for the “Meccabiah Games”, which is an athletic competition similar to the Olympics for high school students. They will be part of the Birmingham team.
